Most times the decisions you make at the flop are not solely based on your cards or the pot but also on how the opponent player left remaining are playing the hand.

In a heads up when you are sitting against an aggressive player who has been playing his chips right and left you are in fact left with a very few options. If on the flop you hit your cards your best bet would be to check giving your reckless aggressive opponent to fire out a bet. Here, you have the option to raise him or just smooth calling in order to just bring him more on the turn. However, you need o be cautious at this stage as he can just as easily be waiting to catch and beat your hand so don't risk playing too slow.

Here, if on the flop you don not hit then of course you can bet or check. If you had just barely made it through pre-flop then, it's better to check and hope for a good free card to make something of your hand. If certain that the opponent has nothing then you should throw out a 2 or raise 3 times to bring down the pot.

In another case, if you'd raised preflop then it's better to test the fire. Most times the opponent will toss it all in but if he raises and you have a good read that he doesn't have anything then use the "All-In" move to get him out. But be careful because if you make a wrong read then it can simply cost you your entire tournament life.
